Norm Tanner Memorial Regatta Update

Nineteen Snipes turned out July 9th and 10th for the [26th] annual Norm Tanner Regatta at Bow Mar lake in Colorado (fleet 640). The fleet included sailors from Rocky Mountain (240), Dallas (1), Lincoln (567) and Muskogee OK.

The weekend started with four senior races completed on Saturday in 95+ degree temps. Light and shifty winds made for challenging racing with boats moving up and down 5-10 positions in each race.  The day ended with a perfect evening of great food, cold drinks, comradery and a beautiful sunset over the Rocky Mountains.   Sunday brought near 100 degree temps but more consistent 10-15 mph winds and three additional senior races were completed.

We were especially pleased that the winds came up early on Sunday and we were able to complete a full junior regatta.  Six junior’s skippered boats and sailed in 5 races. Competition was very close in each race.  It was exciting to see so much involvement from our juniors in both the senior and junior regattas.

Many thanks to the race committee, supporting pontoon boat (aka beer island), and organizers for great races, keeping the sailors well hydrated, fed and entertained with good music!

Congratulations to the top three finishers in the senior and junior regattas:
