2016 Georgia State Snipe Championship
March 21

The weather was moderately warm and the wind light on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Thirteen boats representing Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee took to the water for the two races. Three of the skippers were juniors and several of them placed above their parents who were also racing. Unfortunately the winds on Sunday morning were non-existent, but the fog was breath-taking with the sunrise behind the cypress trees designating the slot between the two parts of the lake. The third race was called at 10:30. Awards were presented following lunch. This included 7 certificates of participation to the juniors who were skipper or crew and engraved Yeti cups to the skipper and crew of the first 5 boats. Below is the list of all participants and their finishes.

Thanks to the members who served on the safety boats. Luckily, they had only one boat to pull in on Saturday afternoon. Thanks too to the guys who did the valet launching and retrieval of the boats. And of course, a big thanks to all the club members who furnished, served, and cleaned up all of the food: biscuits and gravy for breakfast; hot dogs, hamburgers, and bar-be-que for lunches; snacks, sandwiches, soups, pizza, and sweets Friday night and Saturday after the races; and to Vice-Commodore Matthew North for arranging the catered seafood dinner cooked on the grounds on Saturday night.
