2014 SCIRA World Championship of Masters

Fukuoka, Japan

Fukuoka, Japan (August 28, 2014) – Hakata Bay perhaps outdid herself for the second day of the 2014 Snipe World Championship of Masters with one race held in escalating conditions. Today was about sailing through the noise. To identify times to forget the small shifts, lock in and be patient, and times to hunt the big ones.Ryusuke Abe/Akinori Yamashita built on a strong start to win the race seconds ahead of Naoki Inoue/Shinichi Uchida. The last shift wouldn’t shift and Americans Augie Diaz/Kate Sheahan finished closely behind for a third and stepped up to 8th. Joel Zackin/Celeste Suggs also had their best race of the series and moved up to 15th with a 15. Racing continues through Sunday with tomorrow’s layday at the Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine cancelled to make up the blown out race four.

Behind the scene: Treat day two as it’s own event. If you completely focus on the first leg of the first race, then the rest of the day will get easier. Just get the boat rumbling and keep it simple – vang and mainsheet simple.

Results, photos and more will be posted throughout the week at the event site: http://www.fsaf.net/snipe/
