2014 SCIRA World Championship of Masters

Fukuoka, Japan

Fukuoka, Japan (August 26, 2014) – The 2014 Snipe World Championship of Masters commenced today with a practice race off the Korea/Tsushima Strait on Hakata Bay in Fukuoka, Japan with eight countries (Japan, Norway, Italy, Canada, Argentina, USA, Korea, Brazil) represented by 37 teams. Sailing for the United States are Augie Diaz/Kate Sheahan and Joel Zackin/Celeste Suggs. The forecast throughout the week is for sporadic rains and volatile pressure with heavier winds expected for the first day of racing. The practice race today confirmed that the championship will be hard earned with many seasoned and fast teams in the battle. Insights and observations from Augie and the competition to follow.
