Pre Halloween Regatta – water reports misleading

The Atlanta Yacht Club Snipe Fleet 330 hosted the Crackerbarrell Regatta this past weekend as a Pre Halloween Regatta. The event demonstrated without question that the dire reports by CNN and the other news services are miskeadingand there is still more than ample water in Lake Allatoona to hold and enjoy great Snipe racing. On Saturday the winds were a good 8-10 from the NW right down the lake and the full length wnidward lewardcourse was set up just to the east of the Club shore. 2 great races were held. On Sunday the winds turned coming down the lake from the east at 8-12 and a Olympic Course was set using the entrie lake. The 2 boat team of Don Hackbarth/Nick Haile and Craig and Lauren Mclean were the victors. Lee Bradley did an all out job organizing and executing this traditional event.

The Clubhouse is now fully decorated for the big event and dance/costume party and awaits all you spooks and goblins for the Halloween Regatta at AYC. The weather forecast is that it is going to rain during the week and be clear and sunny with a great wind on Saturday and Sunday. You all come.

We would like to ask that each participant in the event bring a 5 gallon jug of water to the event to pour into the lake. Just think of the power of that effort. Bring what you drink! and leave it behind! As a reward you all will be provided an extra hot buttered rum after the races on Saturday.

See ya all Friday night for the trick or treat and kids party.
